England legend and all-time top goalscorer, Wayne Rooney is set to become a DC United player on Thursday after lengthy talks.
The long delays have been down to Rooney having to wait to secure a work permit and a visa.
The 32-year old’s agent Paul Stretford is set to confirm the completion of the deal and the ex-England Captain is set to join up with his new teammates next week.
He could then make his debut four days later against Vancouver Whitecaps at the opening of the new £140m 20,000-seater Audi Field stadium in Washington.
Once his MLS career is over, Rooney is expected to return to Goodison Park as a coach after reportedly negotiating a deal with Everton.
